St. Louis

September 17th, 2012

A friend just sent this wonderful video of my favorite city, to make me wistful. We still get our coffee shipped from Kaldi’s, our old neighborhood coffee shop. The saying in the lab was “St. Louis: better than you’d think.” Go Cards!

Here is St. Louis from Anastasis Films on Vimeo.

St. Louis: better than you’d think. I must say that at least once a month to someone, more frequently now that it’s time for students to apply to grad school.

Yeah, it’s a nice place–MUCH better than it’s reputation suggests–but favorite city? Really? Well………I ‘spose, compared to the DC suburbs………….

And the Cardinals! They’re unbeatable. World Series champs in ’12. You hear it here first.

thanks for the video. Made me pine, too.

Exurbs, alas. The DC suburbs are another 10-20 miles closer in. But it does help that the institute bought a private island in the Potomac, connected by a bridge to the Farm — six miles of secluded running trail around its edge, with only eagles, foxes, deer, and groundhogs to share it with. And a nice view of big helicopters flying up and down the Potomac to/from their undisclosed locations. Almost, though not quite, a substitute for the St. Louis Forest Park running trail.

Another thing I really miss is the CIty Museum.
